Husband Tag

I've been Husband Tagged I don't know if I've already done one of these but I've been feeling so thankful for Jer lately that I had to do it. Here is to my WONDERFUL husband:

1. Where did you meet your husband? At a Drive in Movie/BBQ/Dance at BYU-I
2. How long did you date before you got married? Haha we dated for about 2 weeks before we got engaged. about 2 1/2 months later we were married in the Washington D.C. Temple.
3. How long have you been married?6 years and counting!
4. What does he do that surprises you? I never know what Jer's up to. He loves to surprise me with outings, sometimes flowers. He's always very thoughtful when it comes to helping me around the house and with the kids.
5. What is your favorite feature of his? I love his big brown eyes, his high pitch girly laugh, his great sense of humor.
6. What is his best quality? Jer makes friends wherever we go. I know exactly where he stands because he is so open with me.
7. Does he have a nickname for you? Babe, Hun, Candi
8. What is his favorite food? Any of his authentic Mexican food. He loves it! Its about the only thing he really does like to eat.
9. What is his favorite sport? Football! PBR! Hunting! Fishing! (What can I say, he's my little redneck).
10. When and where did you first kiss? The parking area of my apartments at Carriage House.
11. What is your favorite thing to do as a couple? Go on a cruise! Nah really we love to do just about anything. Play games, go on vacations, go out, stay in. We always have a good time together.
12. Do you have any children? Yes. Our little Brooklyn 5yrs and Mason Bug 2 1/2. They complete us.
13. Does he have any hidden talents? Hidden talents? I think he is a much better speaker than he gives himself credit for. He is a very fast learner when it comes to do things hands on. He's the hardest worker I've ever seen. Jer knows how to get what he wants and really go for it. He's not afraid to put himself out there.
14. How old is he? He'll be 28 this Feb 11th. (ahh old man)!
15. Who said I love you first? We both kind of did. It was funny.
16. What is his favorite music? Old time country. Most of the slow talking songs that I can't stand. hehe.
17. What do you admire most about him? How self sacrificing he is. He has worked so hard to help me stay home with our kids. When I think back on it I always get emotional. I still don't know how we made it but Jer always made sure we had everything we needed.
18. What is his favorite color? Blue
19. Will he read this? Probably not. He has his own work blog that he goes to.
20. I tag everyone that reads this. You know who you are.

long week

Jer left yesterday. He went down to Manassa for a good friend's funeral. I'm usually independent when Jer has to go to a meeting or line school but this week has been hard for me. I really miss him when he's gone. The kids miss him. Brook says in her dramatic way "Mom I really really need daddy to come home." What can a mom say to that? Me too baby, me too.

First Tithe

This Sunday Brooklyn paid her first tithe! She was so excited to hand her little envelope to the Bishop. Later at Grandma and Grandpa Mo's house, Aunt Courtney gave Brook 2 quarters. Brook ran up to me and said "Mommy, mommy, now I can give more tithing!" I was so proud of her for being excited to give some of her money to the Lord. What a big girl she is becoming.

Meet Fred

This weekend our family got a guinea pig. We realized that we miss having a pet but a dog is a lot of work. We named him Fred Oreo. He is quiet and so sweet with the kids. We put him in our fish tank that we had left over from a couple years ago. It has an underwater picture on the side so we call him our underwater guinea pig. The kids love to hold him and he makes the sweetest little noises. Just like a toy. We love it.

Our weekend in Denver

We haven't taken the kids to do something fun for a long time. Brook wanted to feed the sting rays at the Denver Aquarium this weekend so we went. I will never again take the kids on a weekend to the aquarium. It was so packed with people that I felt rushed the whole time! Even though it was hard to get through the kids still were excited to see all of the fish and animals.

here's me and the kids in front of the aquarium

Daddy and mase looking at the Ducks in the North American Habitat
sea creatures- so pretty

The kids loved looking at the fish

They offer diving with the fish. Its so expensive.

Yes they are eels. I thought they were seaweed at first.

Mason loved looking at the sharks

Brook was so excited to feed the stingray but we got there too late and they were having a break. She was so disappointed. I was proud of her for being brave enough to stick her hand in the water to pet them.

My 5 year old girl

This weekend Jer's mom and dad came back from Jill's baby blessing. They brought Brooklyn some belated birthday presents. She was so excited to get MORE presents! Thank you everyone you made Brook's birthday so nice.

ken clothes and books from Grandma and Grandpa Mo

Hannah Montana shirt, CTR ring, skittles and cards from Aunt Amanda, Uncle Dan, Ashlyn, Logan and Kennedy

Spongebob crabby patty candies and a ken doll from Aunt Jillian, Uncle Steve and Addison

Five years ago today I was scared out of my mind! I remember walking into the hospital to be induced on January 15th. By 9:30pm they broke my water and I remember laughing my head off while Jillian and her boyfriend danced around my hospital room. The pains that night were unreal and by 1pm Brooklyn Kathleen Smith was born via c-section.

She was the most beautiful baby I had ever seen. As I held this perfect little round head in my arms and looked into her dark blue/grey eyes, I know I felt my mom rejoicing around me. Brooklyn has been a little ray of sunshine in our lives. She IS happiness. She gives her love away so freely and I can't imagine our lives without her.

Today she is five and all I can do it think back through the years and how much she has grown. From her little 1 year old scrunched up nose to her favorite Shek movie she has made us laugh time and time again.

The birthday girl

Make a wish!

Opening presents from Grandma and Grandpa Liggett

Barbies from mom and dad and mason!

Men and their trucks

Today our relief valve pipe was leaking water from our boiler. I called our gas company to send a guy to come take a look at it. If it blows, water will just gush out everywhere. Our land lady Phyllis isn't too happy about it but hey it needs to be done. I called Jer to tell him the news when I found a few boxes in our garage that were getting soaked. He stopped by in his big burly truck to help me move the boxes. When he was done, Jer gave Mason a little ride in his YW truck. Mason was so excited. He thought he was going to work with dad!

Later today I got a call from Brooklyn's school. Brook was so sad. She lost her CTR ring in the playground and can't find it. Poor baby she was just bawling when she called me. I helped her look for it when I picked her up but I knew it was a lost cause as soon as we stepped outside. Oh well I'll have to get her another one, one day.

Aunt Molly sent the kids some winter hats. She did a really good job. They love them. Thanks Aunt Molly!

CTR ring!

Today Brooklyn got her second CTR ring. This is the first one I have seen so to me its a first. Apparently she lost the first one. She was so excited to have her own ring. I can't believe she is old enough to wear one now.

Look at that face! Priceless.

Playing out in the Yard

Friday we spent a little time outside. I got an itch to clean up my yard from all the tumbleweeds, leaves and stray branches. A couple hours later and I have 4 huge piles and nowhere to put them. We can't burn it in town and our van isn't big enough to haul them. There they will stay I guess until I figure it all out. Jer just loved telling me I told you so since he told me not to rake it up in the first place. Oh well. It felt good to do some yard work anyway.

The wind blew a million miles an hour but the kids still have fun playing in our last remaining snow pile.

Another Tooth!

Okay, I can't believe it! Brooklyn turns 5 this January 16th and she's already lost her second tooth. At this rate she'll be toothless by age SIX. Ahh!

She was so excited. We found her tooth box so she didn't put her tooth under her pillow. Its a cute little box that is pink with a little picture of a fairy on top. The tooth fairy left her money under her pillow though.

By the way does anyone have any ideas about what the tooth fairy DOES with all the teeth she gets?? I'd be interested to know.

Greeley Weekend

Jer and I had a free hotel stay we needed to use up soon so we thought this weekend would be great. We asked Jer's sisters to come with us but only Shayla was able to come. We left Saturday morning and spent all the afternoon shopping. After an awesome meal at a Lone Star restaurant, we checked into our hotel room and got ready for swimming. After all, that's the whole reason we go to hotels. The kids had a blast in the pool. We even spent the whole night hitting a beach ball around the pool with a kid that was there. Once we were pleasantly exhausted we went back to our room for much needed rest. Weekends like this only come around once in a while and boy was it needed.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone! We spent the night watching a scary movie, eating veggies and dip and just being together. We tried to make it to midnight but the kids both fell asleep in my room around 10. Jer and I got them in bed and decided we were tired too so there you go. Not so exciting but we still had fun. Hope you all did too!
