Gone fishing

Saturday I worked at the bakery from 4:30am to 2pm. Jer asked if I wanted to go with him and the kids fishing afterwards. I said heck yeah.

We took them to the pond near the Akron golf course here. Brooklyn had a blast practicing her casting and reeling in. She wasn't even afraid to touch the slimy green goo that got caught on her line. Mason kept busy by throwing rocks into the water and almost throwing himself at times. ha ha. What a nice treasure to find in our little town. Who would have thought such a pretty pond was here in this dessert wasteland.

Newspaper fight!

Last weekend Mason found our Denver Post Newspapers. We walked into the living room to find all of the papers scattered everywhere.

We had so much fun throwing it at each other and burying the kids. Of course we got pretty dirty from the newspaper print but it was worth it. :o)

Its all about the simple things in life.

It always amazes me when the simplest things are so enjoyable. Yesterday the kids and I spent almost all day outside. My roses are really coming in now.

Jake is growing and just loves whenever we go out to spend time with him. I can't believe he's just over 6 months old now.

The kids had a blast drawing with their sidewalk chalks.

I'm so happy that at least 4 out of the 7 herbs that I potted are growing. One of them is left over pumpkin seeds. Also, our garden is starting to really grow. I'm so proud of myself. I have such a black thumb so whenever anything grows I feel so excited. We have Corn, tomatoes, peppers, zucchini and watermelon growing. Our peas and green beans aren't popping up yet. But hey I can't complain, At least most are doing well. Yay!

The roller coaster ride that is my life!

Okay, so today Jer and I went for a drive with the kids. Our "drives" almost always end up with me asking Jer to stop at every house in Akron that has a for sale sign in front. Can we say house hungry? Anyway, we so happened to drive behind the Oasis Restaurant (The only sit down restaurant in town, soon to be the second). There was a house hidden behind Oasis so we stopped to take a look. Wouldn't ya know it but the front door was open and the screen door was unlocked. Naturally we rang the doorbell then let ourselves in to poke around. The outside of the house was hideous! I was blown away with the interior though. New carpets and flooring, new paint, new windows. It had a great floor plan. 4 bedrooms, separate family and living room, eat in kitchen that I like, and a open basement perfect for the kids playing room. The price is pretty good! Only $84,000. Jer and I got home and reality hits. We still have so much to pay off before we can even think about a house. Bills, student loans, Credit Cards, you name it. What a let down. All I can think is how do people do it?! We can barely survive in a crappy 2 bed rental. Unless I get a job there is no way we are buying a house within the next 5 years! Don't get me wrong I am fully aware that we chose our battles. We wanted to have kids rather than save for a house first. They are totally worth it for me to wait. Its just gets hard sometimes to think that Jer and I have been married for almost 6 years now and we have very little to show for it. So I was looking in the paper tonight, I saw an ad to be a Denver Post carrier in Otis. I'm thinking of picking up that job. I probably can take the kiddos along with me. What do you guys think? I've really got to help out. Maybe it'll get my mind off of wanting so much right now.

Here are your instructions, ladies...Post these rules on your blog. List 3 joys, 3 fears, 3 goals, 3 current obsessions/collections, 3 random surprising facts about yourself. Tag 3 people at the end of your post by leaving their names [the original rules said 5, but I'm switching it up to keep it all in 3's]. Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

TAG! You're it!

TAG: Here are SIX things that you might not know about me.

1. I am a bag guru! I don't really feel the need to buy new clothes all the time but purses or bags, heck yeah! They just make me feel good to have a cute bag.

2. I love to cook. Especially when its a new or hard recipe. It makes me feel very accomplished. And as you can tell by looking at me, I'm pretty good at it too. haha. ;)

3. The beach is my favorite place of all time. It reminds me of my mom. I feel a little closer to her when I'm there. She always said that she wanted to die by the ocean and she got her wish!

4. I'm only 4'11''. Someone once told me that I am legally short enough to get a handicap plaque for my car. Sometimes I'm tempted to get one too. :)

5. One of my greatest desires is to be able to travel the world one day. Go back to Europe again, maybe Costa Rica with Jer. Who knows? It will probably be when Jer and I go on a mission but I'll take what I can get.

6. I love to sing. Once upon a time I used to be good too. I was in plays in school and choirs. I've kind of lost my talent now but I still really appreciate a good singer.

I tag Mindi A., Elaine M., Lauren B., Nikki P. and Leah W. I can't wait to see what you guys write!

Our fun weekend in Denver!

This Friday I went to Abbie's to get my hair cut. I was a little stressed because Jer had to work late and I took the kiddos with me. They of course were all over the place. Poor Abbie. Thank goodness we are friends. :)
After my hair cut Jer picked me up for a drive. I was really surprised and excited to find out that he was taking us to Denver for the weekend! We really needed the mini vacation.

We stayed at a hotel that night and the next morning we went to Hammond's Candies Factory for a free tour! It was really great to see how they make their candy. We watched as they mixed the coloring and flavoring in. Our tour guide even gave us one of their homemade marshmallows! SO YUMMY!

After the candy factory Jer and I took the kiddos to the Downtown Denver Aquarium. We walked through exhibits like: The Rain forest, Coral Lagoon, Sunken Temple and Shipwreck. We got to walk through tunnels underwater. Mason loved the Sharks! They even allow diving with the fishes and sharks. That would be so cool.

At the end Jer and I got to touch stingray and feed them. Brooklyn was too scared but she loved to watch.
We really needed this break. We stayed until Sunday. It was really nice to be able to swim in the hotel pool every morning. I wish we could live in a hotel. haha.
